outtahere sets your out-of-office for you: it turns on your auto-reply, calendar block, and Slack status when your time off starts, and turns them off when it ends. This page explains what information that takes, what we do with it, and how to get rid of it.
What we collect
| Joining the waitlist | Your email address, the time you signed up, and which page you signed up from. We use it only to tell you when outtahere opens up. |
|---|---|
| Signing in | The name and email address on the Google or Microsoft account you sign in with, plus that provider's unique ID for you, so we can recognize you next time. We also record when you created your account and agreed to these terms. We keep a session cookie so you stay logged in. |
| Connecting accounts | When you connect Google, Microsoft, or Slack, the provider gives us access tokens. We store them encrypted. We also keep the connected account's email address (or Slack workspace name) so you can see what is connected. |
| Your trips | The dates, time zone, auto-reply message, and Slack status text and emoji you enter, and a record of what outtahere switched on or off for each trip. |
| Technical data | Our hosting provider, Cloudflare, processes basic request data such as your IP address when you use the site, to deliver it and protect it from abuse. |
What outtahere can do in your accounts
We ask for the narrowest access that makes the product work, and we only use it to do what you set up:
- Google (Gmail and Calendar): turn your Gmail vacation auto-reply on and off, and create and remove an out-of-office event on your Google Calendar.
- Microsoft (Outlook): turn your Outlook automatic replies on and off, and create and remove an out-of-office event on your Outlook calendar. We also read your name and email address to identify you.
- Slack: set and clear your own status.
We do not read the contents of your emails or messages, and we do not read your other calendar events. We only create, change, and remove the out-of-office items outtahere itself sets.
How we use it
- To run the service you asked for: apply your trips on time and turn them off afterward.
- To keep your account secure and to fix problems.
- To tell waitlist members when access opens, and to send service messages you need.
We do not sell your information. We do not share it for advertising. We do not use data from your Google, Microsoft, or Slack accounts to train or improve AI or machine-learning models.
Google user data
outtahere's use and transfer of information received from Google APIs to any other app will adhere to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements. We use Google user data only to provide the out-of-office features described above, and we do not transfer it to others except as needed to run the service, to comply with law, or with your consent.
Who else handles your data
- Cloudflare hosts the site and the database where your information is stored.
- Google, Microsoft, and Slack receive the changes we make on your behalf, such as an auto-reply or a status. Their own privacy policies govern what they do with it.
- Google Fonts serves this site's typefaces, which means your browser contacts Google when you load a page.
We do not otherwise share your information, except if the law requires it.
How we protect it
Connection tokens are encrypted before they are stored, using AES-256-GCM, with the key held separately from the database. Connections to the service use HTTPS. No system is perfectly secure, but we take care to limit what we hold and who can reach it.
How long we keep it
- Waitlist emails: until we have told you about launch, or until you ask us to remove yours.
- Account data: until you delete your account.
- Connections: until you disconnect them or delete your account.
- Backups: our hosting provider keeps short-term backups, for up to about 30 days, after which deleted data ages out.
Your choices and rights
- Disconnect a connected account on the Connections page. outtahere first switches off anything it has on for you, then tells the provider to cancel its access, then deletes the stored tokens.
- Delete your account in Settings. This turns off anything currently set, cancels access to your connected accounts, and permanently deletes your trips, connections, and account.
- You can also remove outtahere's access directly in your Google, Microsoft, or Slack account settings at any time.
- Ask us anything. To see, correct, or delete your information, or to be removed from the waitlist, email [email protected]. Depending on where you live, you may have rights under laws such as the GDPR or the CCPA, including access, deletion, and correction. We will respond within a reasonable time and will not discriminate against you for using these rights.
Cookies
We use one essential cookie to keep you signed in. It is not used for tracking or advertising. This marketing site does not use analytics or advertising cookies.
Children
outtahere is for working adults and is not directed to children under 16. If you believe a child has given us information, email us and we will delete it.
Where your data is processed
Our hosting providers operate globally, so your information may be processed in countries other than your own, including the United States.
Changes
If we make a meaningful change to this policy, we will update the date above and, where appropriate, tell you by email or in the product.
